With malaria-carrying mosquitos still accounting for hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide every year, UCI’s Micro and Molecular Biologist Anthony A. James, along with his team of researchers details an ongoing experimental project to tackle the mosquito problem from a new angle. Professor James gives us an insight into the experiments to create mosquitos that can’t even carry malaria in the first place, and integrate them into the wild to pass down their disease-resistant genes.
